CIPMUSA: Eligibility and Admission Requirements

Admission to the CIPM USA program is limited to members of the CHARTERED INSTITUTE OF PROFESSIONAL MANAGEMENT. No exceptions. Members of CIPM USA have already been determined to have high standards of ethics, scholarship, motivation, character, and strong educational aspirations, regardless of their race, color, national origin, sexual orientation, creed or disability.

Members who have a bachelor’s degree from a university or approved institution or who possess professional qualifications equivalent to a bachelor’s degree (i.e. a minimum of five years of supervisory/managerial experience, relevant certifications, or licenses, etc.) are likely to move with greater ease through the program.

Admission is, however, open to all members, regardless of their prior education or work experience, providing they state convincingly in an essay their reasons for wanting to take the courses, the reasons why they are motivated to do the work, and to complete the courses on a timely basis.

CORPORATIONS may nominate employees who are not yet members of CIPM USA with a letter stating they believe the employee is demonstrating potential for upward mobility within the organization or that the employee is holding or soon will be holding an upper management or executive level position.

CERTIFICATION ENGLISH LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

English Language Ability: Students must have a certain level of English proficiency to succeed at obtaining CIPM USA CERTIFICATION. This requirement is usually fulfilled by submitting a TOEFL result with a minimum score of 173 on the computerized TOEFL (500 on the institutional test) or a 5.0 bandwidth score on the IELTS.

This requirement is subject to application when it is apparent that English language ability is severely limited.

APOSTILLE INFORMATION
Since October 15, 1981, the United States has been a part of the Hague Convention abolishing the requirement for Legalization for Foreign Public Documents. The Convention provides for the simplified certification of public (including notarized) documents such as CIPM USA CERTIFICATES to be used in countries that have joined the Convention. (Many countries not a party to the Convention accepts as legal documents have been through the process.)

With this Certification by The Hague Convention apostille, the document is entitled to recognition in the country of intended use, and no certification by the U.S. State Department Authentication Office or legalization by the embassy or consulate of the foreign country where the document is to be used is required.

At the request of the member-student, a letter from CIPM USA can be obtained signed by a Director and notarized for authenticity, verifying the awarding of a certificate from CIPM USA. There is a fee for this service which must be requested by the member-student in writing.
